The largest cocaine seizure in Australia was found on a disabled boat at sea.

After a fishing boat broke down off the coast of Queensland, Australian authorities confiscated the nation's greatest haul of cocaine and detained 13 individuals suspected of being involved in a drug-smuggling organization
In order to retrieve the cocaine, which weighed around 2.34 metric tons and had a street value of almost half a billion dollars, authorities allegedly followed a recreational fishing boat out to sea where it allegedly met a mothership in international waters.
The accused traffickers were left stranded 18 kilometers (11 miles) off the northeastern tip of K'gari island, formerly Fraser Island, on Saturday after the boat experienced a suspected mechanical failure. In a combined federal and local investigation, police took advantage of the opportunity to board the boat and arrested two guys at sea.
